Peloton Reverses Course, Will Continue to Support Apple GymKit

On Friday, February 16, 2024, at 3:17 pm PST, Peloton announced that it would continue to support 's GymKit feature that syncs data to the Health app, reversing its earlier decision. Peloton had initially planned to drop support for GymKit in favor of its One-Tap tracking feature, which only offered basic information syncing to the Health app. However, after receiving complaints from customers who were unhappy with the decision, Peloton listened to member feedback. It announced that integration with GymKit would continue to be offered.

GymKit has been a critical feature on Peloton's $2,500 Bike+ since its debut in 2020 and on other Peloton machines since 2022. With GymKit, Peloton users can access data like cadence, average speed, and average power in the Health app, along with other metrics like distance, pace, and heart rate.

This payment is part of a settlement of $35 million that agreed to pay to settle a U.S. class-action lawsuit that alleged that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus were prone to audio issues due to a defective chip.

Additionally, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 8:54 am PST, rumors and expectations about iOS 18 were shared. iOS 18 is expected to include new features for Siri and several built-in apps that use ChatGPT-like generative AI. The update will also likely add RCS support to the Messages app for an improved texting experience with users. A sketchy rumor claimed that iOS 18 would have a new feature allowing users to control their devices with their minds.

Lastly, on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 10:39 am PST, it was reported that in October 2022, updated its App Store Review Guidelines to clarify that sales of “boosted” posts in social media apps must use the App Store's in-app purchase system. Apple will receive up to a 30% cut of these sales.
